AIDS/LifeCycle 2020

You Donate Here, I’ll Donate There

In light of the important and long overdue conversations surrounding the Black experience in America coinciding with AIDS/LifeCycle week, I felt it wouldn’t be right for me to ask for ALC donations without somehow upping the ante.

With help from my employer’s gift matching program, I will match this week’s ALC donations and give to Black AIDS Institute. BAI is a national organization based in Los Angeles that focuses exclusively on the needs of Black Americans in terms of preventing and treating HIV and AIDS.

How it’ll work:

  • You: From 5/31/2020 to 6/6/2020, click the green DONATE button and contribute whatever amount you can.
  • Me: On 6/7/2020, I will tally up the week’s donations (including gift matches); donate 34% of it to BAI upfront; and use 2-to-1 employee gift matching to cover the rest.
  • For accountability’s sake, I will post the receipts here and on my social media accounts.

Let's Roll!

Fredo at Union Square in San Francisco during a ride on March 20, 2020.

Hi there! I am Fredo, rider #1115 for AIDS/LifeCycle 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ride originally scheduled for May 31 through June 6 was cancelled. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Ride or no ride, the life-saving work of these organizations is still so very crucial, perhaps now more than ever. With that in mind, I’m taking part in ALC’s #My545 Challenge. From April 26 through May 30, I am committed to logging 545 virtual miles via Zwift to raise money for AIDS/LifeCycle. On May 18, 2020, I reached the halfway mark toward my $10,000.99 fundraising goal. Donate today to get me the rest of the way!
