Hi there and hello! My name is Alfredo Álvarez, but people call me Fredo for short. (That’s pronounced FRAY-doe or FREH-doe, not FREE-toe and certainly not FROE-doe.) I am a graphic designer, photographer, and writer currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. If I’m honest though, it’s my work in retail operations and logistics that pays the bills right now.
We remain hopeful that will change.
I grew up in New York City and also spent a considerable amount of time in Washington, DC before moving to the Bay in 2016. In previous lives, I repaired arcade games including pinball machines (they’re surprisingly complex); designed and launched websites for a non-profit; wrote for a mid-size news blog; designed assets for exhibitions and publications; and facilitated trainings for work and volunteer events.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I enjoy crafty hobbies and craft beer. I ride bikes for charity. And I share an apartment with my husband (a teacher and writer himself) and our two cats.
